What you pay on Standard
Standard needs a first deposit of $100, the same as Cent and the lowest of our accounts. Your balance and trade sizes are in US dollars, as on Pro and ECN. The platform and the instruments are the same as on Pro and ECN.
The cost is the spread. Spreads start at 1.2 pips, wider than on Pro (from 0.7) or ECN (from 0.0, plus commission). On one standard lot of EUR/USD, a 1.2-pip spread costs $12. Positions held overnight also pay or earn swap.
Spreads are lowest when the London and New York sessions overlap. They widen around news releases and when markets are thin. '1.2 pips' is the lowest we quote. It is not an average.
Standard has the same maximum leverage as Pro and ECN, 1:500. At that ratio, $100 of margin holds a $50,000 position, and a 0.2% move against you loses all $100.
You can open a Pro, ECN or Cent account later under the same client profile and keep the Standard account.

What is the minimum deposit for the Standard account?+
$100. Your balance is in US dollars. If you want to trade smaller sizes, the Cent account also starts at $100 and shows your balance in US cents.
Is the Standard account good for beginners?+
It can be. The minimum is low and there is no commission. Leveraged trading carries a high risk of loss, so we suggest you start on the demo account and deposit only money you can afford to lose.
How wide are spreads on the Standard account?+
Spreads start at 1.2 pips. That is the lowest we quote, usually on major pairs such as EUR/USD when London and New York overlap. They are wider on other pairs and instruments, and widen around news and when markets are thin. Current spreads are shown in MT5.
Is there a commission on the Standard account?+
No. You pay the spread. Positions held past the daily rollover pay or earn swap.
Can I run Expert Advisors on the Standard account?+
Yes. All MT5 features work, including Expert Advisors, custom indicators, the strategy tester and one-click trading. An Expert Advisor that trades often may cost less to run on ECN, where quoted spreads start lower.
Can I change from Standard to another account later?+
Yes. You can open Pro, ECN or Cent accounts under the same client profile. Opening another account does not close or change your Standard account.
